Every one here is love horror for sure but some things you hate about in the movies that happen. For an example what I hate more is cell phones because every movie I see recent I talk about it every movie is have to make a scene to show oh no cell phones dont work because is first question is people say is why you not to call the police in the cell phone and so is to be this scene to show is not work. I see a movie and is 5 people have cell phones and is show that not one work. I think is better to not even to show the people have this cell phones because then is not waste the time to show is not work. Drive me to be crazy when I see this. Also I hate when is maybe 4 or 5 girls in horror movie and is 1 hot and rest of is ugly like the wet bag of spaggetti and only ugly ones go naked and hot girl is not even show one small nipple.

The recent trend of favouring elaborate 'murder set pieces' and gratuitous torture scenes over any semblance of coherent plot and character development. While 'Saw' was kind of pioneering in this sense, it became excruciatingly boring after all the Hostel, Wolf Creek, Saw sequels, Martyrs nonsense. I'm with Hitchcock, often what you don't see is most effective.

Before cell phones not working it was cars that would never start. You can't win with this.Almost everyone has a cell phone now so there really isnt any other way around it.If they call for help the movie is over.

YES! That used to drive me crazy! You could always count on someone's car just NOT starting for NO REASON!!! I always loved that Friday 2 introduced Ginny's VW as a clunker right away and that Friday 3 had the bikers steal the gas out of Chris' van. They even had the decency to give Chris a reserve tank albeit too little too late.

The other thing I hate is a cat jumping out at someone (and sometimes even flying in from an impossible angle) and screaming as if its tail had just been stomped on.

    +1

These days movies seem to be going in the opposite direction. They think we need to see more, so we're getting long gruesome torture scenes and lousy CGI shots.

Two of the greatest horror movies of all time, The Haunting and Blair Witch Project, didn't show anything. They scared the crap out of me, and it was all done through the power of suggestion.

I hate the fact that I overdid it with the horror genre and I'm not into them nearly as much as I used to be. Took a horror film course at school this year and I think that was solid proof how little interest I still have in the genre. Maybe it was because the course ended up being so goddamn theoretical, but I was bored with almost everything the prof talked about.

Other than that, I hate mostly the same stuff as other people on here. I hate modern horror and what its become. The emphasis on violence over any decent or coherent story, remakes, etc etc. The genre's just become total crap.

Yeah, but they could be more creative with it. Just the "service is shit out here" and "I'm getting no signal" is getting old. I'd love to see someone get ahold of their friends, then get killed while trying to explain where they are and what's going on. Or get the cops on the phone, but by the time the cops get there everyone is dead or run-off.
Even better, someone hiding and the killer calls them, giving up there spot. (Where did I see this, I'm sure I have seen this, Scream maybe?)

What annoys me more is when someone pops up out of nowhere and scares everyone, yet everyone was sitting looking at the only possible place the other person could have came from. I call it "cheap jump scare blindness", and many characters get the symptoms in many movies. It doesn't make sense and it irks me to no end.

What I hate most about the horror genre, to be honest, is the shit inspired by it that passes for music.

Uninspired remakes, 'torture porn', violence masquerading for story, uninspired remakes...

Shit yeah, and I hate it when they drop the needle on some metal for the "intense" scenes. The only movie that almost pulled it off was Opera, but onces the lyrics kicked it that ruined the scene entirely.

And I'm a metal fan talking hear.

I hate it when someone who should be really terrified finally gets the upper hand against the psycho killer and, after narrowly escaping with their lives, decides to belt out a retarded one-liner (like "say hi to mommy...in hell" in the new Friday the 13th).

Like many others, unneeded remakes, are a thorn in my side, aside from that...
Clumsy people: Why is it that most people have to be so damn clumsy, they can never find the right key, even with modern age films, they struggle finding the key, and that is with cars that have those electronic keys, so they stand out like a sore thumb on a key ring, so how can that be a problem. Not only that but it seems everyone seems to have an ungodly amount of keys on their ring. I've seen janitors with less baggage! No wonder the killer almost catches up with you, drop the 40lbs of keys and you'll move faster.

Then there is when they have a crucial item in their hand, and they drop it into a conveniently small hole, then spend time trying to fit their hand into an obviously unattainable location. "Oh no I dropped this crucial mystical amulet down the drain, what am I to do now??! - Heres a hint, attach the amulet to the 40lb keychain you are carrying around so when you drop it its so friggin large it cant fit down the drain!!!

Or how slow people run, the killer could be overweight, out of shape, lame, with a club foot, carrying a heavy weapon and they always seem to be only 3 steps behind the unencumbered, slim, athletic victim. C'Mon!! Why cant they ever do a scene where the killer tries to pursue a victim and the victim is so scared shitless that they run like a crackhead, and the killer stops and just looks realizing there is NO WAY, he is catching that fleet SOB!!!

One other thing, is more DVD related, but bad cover art, or ripped off cover art. Its either a low budget film trying to mimic another's cover, or its a poor not well thought out photoshopped cover. Why cant they just use the classic movie poster. You can have a thread of the bad decisions for artwork. Look at Horrorhound magazine, they always have a comparison of the old poster and new poster and the old tends to win each time.

In fact the best example of spitting in the face of convention was in Savini's NotLD. The Barbara character was smart enough to figure out, they are so slow, lets just walk around them. (Which she does.) That was awesome that she was everything that the original Barbara was not!

Horror is really "youth-oriented" for the most part, and as I get older I find it harder and harder to relate to the characters in a lot of the films.
