Some great choices up there, and these are some great ones as well. I guess I'd have to go with the scene in Exorcist 3, which creeped me out the first time I saw it in a theatre and still gives me chills to this day.

One scene that I didn't mention but was the last scene to really freak me out was in "Cutting Moments" when the wife walks out of the bathroom after mutilating herself. I couldn't get that vision out of my head that night.

When I was a kid, the biggest scene for me was from Stephen King's IT, where Pennywise is in the library and is continually popping balloons, spraying blood all over the unknowing patrons. When the librarion tells Harry Anderson to shush, and then gets splattered with blood, it sends chills down my spine. Same thing when Pennywise starts laughing and using his little noise maker. Creepy.

For me, it has always been Laurie Strode finding her dead friend in the Wallace house in Halloween.

Am I the only one who thinks that scene from Exorcist III isn't scary at all? I saw the scene once when the film was on TV and was severely disappointed.

One I just thought of was the thunder storm night scene from Open Water. All you could hear was panic with brief flashes of light from the lightning strikes, great scene.

I jumped the first time I watched it, but I had no idea what to expect. The rest of the movie was pretty boring... not bad, but of course nowhere near the excellence of the original.

Zelda in Pet Sematary always creeped me out, As did the scenne in Friday the 13th part 2 where the cop sees Jason run across the road in the woods.

    Man, I love this thread.

My first choice was Polanski in the bathroom in The Tennant.

Exorcist III is up there as one of my favorite scenes, ever.

As a child, Barry's abduction in Close Encounters of the Third Kind had me screaming on the floor of the theatre.

And there's an epsiode of the new Dr. Who called "Blink" that is one of the best creep-me-out things I have seen in a long time.

There is a deleted scene in Jacobs ladder where jacob is lying on a bed looking at a hole in the ceiling and sees an eye. definetly a creepy scene for me at least, which should have been in the movie. Actually there are more than a couple in that movie that I would classify as creepy compared to most horror.

If we are counting TV, I want to add any scene with Donnie Pfaster from his 2 episodes of The X-Files (Irresistible and Orison). For reasons I am still not sure of, he creeps me out like no other character ever. The scenes with him and Scully are especially scary. In both episodes, he has called her a girlie girl in such a way that just mortifies me. I have had multiple nightmares about those two scenes alone. I cannot deal with that character. He's miles over my horror threshold.

  12. The final scene in Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)

The old lady in the bathtub from The Shining

The scene in The Sentinel with the old skinny man in the dark

I can see how if you knew the scene was coming and what to expect that you would be dissapointed. I'm one of the lucky ones that saw III cold and didn't expect it. It was like a kick in the guts, very powerful. Also the scene in the confession booth with the old lady could also be on that list, it is so creepy. Damn, we need an Exorcist III special edition NOW!!!

The hallway scene is okay. Guess it didn't affect me much, ultimately.

Jason in the Lake from Friday the 13th.

Close 2nd is Friday the 13th, Part 2, when the cat jumps in the window in the beginning. Scared the crap out of me, my mom, and several other people in the theater, to the point of screaming, in 1982.

if anyone has seen the TV movie The Haunted [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102007/], there's a scene where the mom hears the sound of water dripping and a girl's voice like if someone was taking a bath in the dark that is one of the creepiest scenes that i've ever seen

also the ending of Sleepaway Camp was kinda creepy

probably more scenes than you can remember are creepy, but just to give a scene of a movie that i (re)watched recently :

the scene where Deborah Kerr wanders through the dark, hearing all kinds of voices, only with a chandelier, in The Innocents. That's quite scary

Ohhh I just remembered the scene from Into the Mouth of Madness with the guy on the bike. That freaked me out.
